Met Office warns of potential treacherous ice in Flintshire

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for ice in Flintshire, effective from 4pm today until 10am on Thursday.
The warning comes as a band of rain, sleet, and hill snow is expected to clear southward, leaving standing water that may freeze quickly in plummeting temperatures.
The warning highlights a risk of icy patches on untreated roads, pavements, and cycle paths, which could lead to injuries from slips and falls as well as hazardous travel conditions.
Wintry showers along north-facing coastal areas may further increase the likelihood of ice formation.
Flintshire residents are being urged to take precautions.
If walking or cycling, residents are encouraged to stick to pavements and main roads that are more likely to have been treated.
Drivers are advised to check road conditions before setting out and allow extra time for journeys.
Why a Yellow Warning?
The Met Office’s yellow warning indicates a medium likelihood of hazardous conditions with a low impact overall.
However, such warnings require vigilance, especially for those planning to travel or navigate untreated surfaces.
This warning affects multiple regions across the UK, including Flintshire and nearby areas of north Wales, as well as parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland, and northern England.
