The Office for Product Safety and Standards has issued an urgent recall for Hamilton McBride electric blankets, affecting single, double, and king sizes, due to a serious fire risk.

Anyone who owns one of these products are advised to cease use immediately and return the items to their place of purchase for a full refund.

The recall, issued on 31 October 2024, cites a hazard linked to the heating elements in these electric blankets, which may overheat and ignite.

According to the Product Safety and Standards Office, the blankets in question fail to meet the safety standards mandated by the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.
