Developers scale back Buckley police station apartment plans

Developers have scaled back plans to turn the former Buckley police station into apartments according to a new application.
Agents Tier Consult Ltd had originally received outline planning permission in 2022 to demolish the police station and create a block of nine new-build apartments on the site – which was vacated by North Wales Police when they moved to a new purpose-built home at Buckley Fire Station.

But fresh plans submitted this week show that the development will now only be made up of five apartments across three floors – two two-bedroom units and three one-bedroom flats. The developers also now plan to retain a significant part of the original two-storey building in the development but add a three-storey extension to the rear.
To do this, the existing rear section of the main building and the outbuildings on Mold Road will be demolished, creating space for the new extension plus parking for three cars.
The police station building itself will be subject to some changes, with window upgrades being fitted and some external improvements, but the frontage which identifies the site as a former police station will remain.
If approved there will also be a lockable on-site bike store for residents, water butts to collect and reuse rainwater and a separate bin store.
