Lorry fire on the A55 causes traffic problems near Posthouse roundabout
6:15pm – Once recovery is complete a road surface inspection will take place to determine if resurfacing works is required.
6pm – Traffic going north on the A483 still crawling from the border – A55 westbound from Posthouse still slow as recovery ongoing

5pm – Roads remain gridlocked, with traffic struggling after the earlier HGV fire. Eastbound traffic is using both lanes, whereas westbound A55 is down to a single lane past the incident. Northbound A483 and the Posthouse roundabout still have large queues

4pm Update: Cheshire Fire Service say “The lorry fire on the A55 has been extinguished. The southbound carriageway is now being opened. Northbound remains closed for the time being for recovery of the lorry.”
Update 3:54pm – Eastbound A55 now open to traffic, with the westbound remaining closed. Thankfully no injuries have been reported in the incident.

The A55 is blocked westbound and eastbound with large queues late this afternoon due to a lorry fire.
Emergency services are on the scene, with more heading to the incident.
Cheshire Fire Service say: “There is currently a lorry on fire on the A55 westbound between the Sainsbury’s roundabout and the Posthouse roundabout. The lorry is well alight and blowing smoke into both lanes so the road is shut in both directions. Please avoid the area!”
There are large queues on the A55 but also the northbound A483 – avoid the Posthouse roundabout if you can
