Large parts of Flintshire have been without running water for over 14 hours.

Issues with water supplies in Sychdyn, Mold, Flint, Northop and Flint Mountain were first reported just after 4.30pm on Wednesday.

Engineers from Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water, the company which supplies drinking water and wastewater services to most of Wales, have been working overnight to fix the burst water main.

In an update on its website at 5.59am today Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water said:

“We’re sorry if you’re still without water or experiencing low pressure in Mold, Ruthin, Flint and Flint Mountain this morning.

Our team are in the area doing everything they can to repair the burst water pipe in your area.

We’re moving water around our network and tankering water into the mains to help keep customers in supply.

Thank you for your patience.”

A further update by Dwr Cymru/Welsh Water on social media states:

“We have been working around the clock to repair the bust main that may still be affecting Mold, Flint, Northop and Flint Mountain. We are doing everything we possibly can and expect supplies to return later this morning. Really sorry for the disruption.”

Some supplies do appear to be coming back on, Sychdyn Primary School tweeted last night:

“You are probably aware there is disruption to the water in Sychdyn and surrounding area – this may impact on school tomorrow ( no flushing toilets/heating ) hopefully it will be rectified by the morning.”

In an update a 7am an update via the school twitter account said water was back on.
