Natural Resources Wales issues flood alert for the North Wales coast
Natural Resources Wales has issued a Flood Alert for the North Wales coast, stretching from the Dee estuary to the east coast of Anglesey.
The alert, also including Liverpool due to the expected high tide at 10.45am today, Monday, 13 November, indicates potential risks to low-lying land and roads in these areas.
Residents in the affected regions are advised to prepare for possible flooding, particularly in areas prone to high tides.
The alert cautions that sea spray and waves, possibly carrying debris, could present significant dangers along beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths, and nearby roads.
Storm Debi
The UK Meteorological Office has issued a yellow weather warning for strong winds on Monday, signalling potential disruptions due to Storm Debi.
This storm, named by Met Éireann, the Irish meteorological service, is expected to bring strong, potentially damaging winds and heavy rain, initially affecting the Republic of Ireland before moving towards parts of the UK.
The storm is forecasted to impact various regions across Wales and England, including Flintshire.
Jason Kelly, Chief Meteorologist with the Met Office, said: “Storm Debi will develop rapidly and bring potentially very strong and damaging winds to parts of the Republic of Ireland, which is why Met Éireann has named the system.”
“The strongest winds are expected to hit parts of the Republic of Ireland early on Monday, possibly during the morning commute, then moving to parts of north Wales and northern England in the afternoon.”
“While the strongest winds will have lessened somewhat before reaching the UK, we still expect some significant effects and a wind warning has been issued.”
“Furthermore, Debi is predicted to bring a period of heavy rain to Northern Ireland, for which a combined wind and rain warning has been issued.”
Storm Debi will progress into the North Sea during Monday evening.
