Double Olympic ChampionJade Jones open top bus tour of Flint on Saturday Evening

Jade Jones, the double Olympic Gold Medal winner, will make a balcony appearance at the Town Hall Flint this evening, Saturday 17th September.

Jade’s appearance will mark the start of an evening of celebrations in recognition of her fantastic achievement in Rio.

The celebrations will begin with an open top bus tour of the town and finish in spectacular style with fireworks at the lifeboat station car park.

The timings for the event on will be:

  • 7.00pm Balcony appearance
  • 7.10pm Start of open top bus tour
  • 7.55pm Arrive at lifeboat station car park
  • 8.30pm Fireworks at the Castle

Flint Town Council and Flintshire County Council are encouraging the people of Flintshire to “get out their flags and do Jade proud again with a welcome home she truly deserves.”

The following streets will be subject to rolling road closures between 7pm and 8pm

A5119 Northop Road, between its junctions with Halkyn Street and A5119 Coleshill Street

Halkyn Street, between its junctions with A5119 Northop Road and Winsor Drive

Cornist Road, between its junctions with Halkyn Street and Cornist Lane

Old London Road, between its junctions with Cornist Lane and Aber Road

Royal Drive, between its junctions with Old London Road and Windsor Drive

Windsor Drive, between its junctions with Royal Drive and Halkyn Street

Chapel Street, between its junctions with Church Street and Prince of Wales Avenue

Prince of Wales Avenue, between its junctions with Chapel Street and Albert Avenue

Woodfield Avenue, between its junctions with A548 Chester Street and Ffordd      Llewelyn

Ffordd Llewelyn, between its junctions with Woodfield Avenue and Albert Avenue

Albert Avenue, between its junctions with Ffordd Llewelyn and Prince of Wales   Avenue

A548 Chester Street, between its junctions with Woodfield Avenue and Market Square

Castle Road, between its junctions with A548 Chester Street and Castle Dyke Street

Market Square and Church Street will be closed from 0900hrs to 2000hrs.

The existing one way restriction on the train station access road off the A548 Chester Street will be suspended for the duration of the event.
