Calbee UK, the Deeside based savoury snacks maker has agreed a sponsorship deal with Jade Jones MBE, the Olympic gold medal Taekwondo champion.

Jade who recently won Gold at the World Taekwondo Grand Prix in October and a Bronze medal at the World Taekwondo Grand Final in December is seen as a perfect fit for the company

Managing Director of Calbee UK, Richard Robinson says:

“We are pleased to have her on board, we take our role in the community very seriously and one thing that really impressed us was that Jade’s values are aligned with those that we hold as a business.

Jade who has her sights firmly set on the Rio Olympics 2016 said:

“I have always been really proud to come from Flint, particularly as it was the local community that helped to fundraise for me so that I could take part in tournaments including the Junior Worlds and Youth Olympic Games. Without going to these events and doing well I wouldn’t even be on the national team, never mind an Olympic champion and I will never forget that.

“My family still live here and it’s where it all started for me. I’m looking forward to working with Calbee and to giving something back to those who have shown their support for me during my career.

Japanese owned Calbee UK launched in Deeside back in June 2015, supported by the Welsh Government the company ploughed £10m into a new savoury snack manufacturing site on the industrial estate.
