Cheshire College – South & West has unveiled a new cabin crew training course specifically designed for adults aged 19 and over, aiming to address the increasing demand for skilled professionals in the aviation industry.

The program is particularly targeted at career changers, those re-entering the workforce, and individuals considering a new career after retirement. It offers a pathway to a rewarding role in the aviation sector, with a strong focus on practical training and customer service.

Key aspects of the training include emergency procedures, cabin safety, passenger service, onboard sales, and first aid. Participants will also engage in hands-on activities, such as simulated aircraft cabin exercises and pool-based lifesaving drills.

Sarah Broady, a lecturer in Travel and Tourism at Cheshire College with first-hand experience as cabin crew, expressed her enthusiasm for the course. “As a Lecturer with first-hand Cabin Crew experience, I’m excited to see this course offer adults a fresh opportunity to join the aviation industry. With the growing demand for experienced, customer-focused professionals, this program is designed to equip students with the skills needed to thrive as cabin crew. It’s a fantastic opportunity for individuals to start a rewarding new chapter in their careers, and we’re here to guide them towards success.”

The initiative aligns with the broader push within the aviation sector to recruit older workers. EasyJet’s recent hiring campaign has seen a marked rise in cabin crew recruits aged 50 and over, challenging traditional perceptions of age suitability in the field.

Cheshire College is also offering a range of funding options to ensure affordability, with eligible adults able to access the course for free. Graduates will be well-positioned to take on cabin crew roles, entering an industry that values life experience and customer-focused skills.

The course reflects the college’s commitment to supporting adults in achieving their career aspirations while meeting the needs of a growing industry.
