To celebrate St. David’s Day, bosses at Broughton Retail Park have announced an initiative to give away hundreds of daffodil bulbs for free to local schools.

The daffodil is Wales’ national flower and an iconic symbol worn by many to celebrate the Welsh patron saint’s day.

The initiative is aimed at brightening up school grounds and encouraging children to develop an interest in gardening and the environment from a young age.

Teachers in the local area who are interested in receiving bulbs for their schools should reach out to customer.services@britishland.com for more information before 31st March 2023.

The daffodil bulbs will be distributed to schools later in the year for children to plant around their school grounds and classrooms in the autumn months, so they will be ready to bloom for St David’s Day next spring.

Alan Pruden-Barker, centre manager at Broughton Retail Park, said: “Supporting our community is very important to us, which is why this St David’s Day it’s great to be able to launch an initiative that gives back to local schoolchildren.”

“This daffodil donation is not only a fantastic way to inspire young growers in our local area at an early age, but it will also bring a colourful celebration each year as the bulbs continue to bloom every spring.”

“We look forward to seeing daffodils popping up throughout Broughton and Flintshire early next year”

Broughton is home to more than 40 shops and restaurants, as well as a Cineworld.
