A494 reopens following two car collision

There’s very slow traffic on the westbound A494 this evening due to a collision.

The crash involving two cars happened at around 3.15pm near the Ewloe Loop.

The westbound carriageway was closed while emergency services dealt with the crash.

One of the cars involved hit the middle barrier of the carriageway sending debris across the road.

One lane of the eastbound carriageway was also closed  for ‘safety reasons’ following the collision.

All lanes are back open but traffic is queuing back to Drome Corner with three miles of stationary traffic reported.

Latest traffic report for the area states:

‘Very slow traffic due to earlier accident , two vehicles involved on A494 Southbound at A55 North Wales Expressway J33B (Ewloe).

Congestion to Drome Corner. The road actually fully reopened at 16:30.

The road was reported fully reopened at 16:05 however out of camera shot lane two (of two) was closed whilst the emergency services dealt with the second vehicle involved..

All lanes have been re-opened.’
