Updated: Fan ‘seriously injured’ at Flint Town United and Caernarfon Town football match
Flint Town United has issued a statement on social media condemning the violence that occurred during their match against Caernarfon Town on Saturday evening.
North Wales Police has launched an investigation following the violence which left two fans injured, one seriously according to the force.
The game, which was being broadcast live on S4C’s Sgorio, had just reached the 16-minute mark when the decision was made to suspend it.
In a statement, North Wales Police said, “Shortly after 5.30pm today (Saturday, April 8th), we responded to reports of disorder between fans at the JD Cymru Premier fixture between Flint Town United and Caernarfon Town at the Essity Stadium in Flint.
“A man who was seriously injured within the stadium during the incident has been taken to hospital in Aintree.
“As a result of the disorder, the match was abandoned, and a large police presence remains in the area.
“Officers from North Wales Police and the British Transport Police are also present at Flint Train Station to prevent any further disorder.
“A 24-hour dispersal order is now in place in Flint town until 6.30pm tomorrow (Sunday, April 9th) covering the area outlined on the map that can be seen in the link below.
“The order gives officers and PCSOs the power to disperse any groups gathering in the area to leave and not to return under Section 34 of the ASB Crime and Policing Act 2014.
“Failure to comply with this dispersal order will result in arrest.
“We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident and has information that could assist with our investigation to contact us on 101, or via the website, using reference A050936.”
In a statement on social media, Flint Town United said: “As a club we utterly condemn the appalling behaviour of a minority of individuals at today’s game.”
“We wish the two people who were injured a speedy and full recovery and would urge anyone with any mobile phone footage of the incidents to contact the police.”
“We would like to sincerely thank the paramedics and the club stewards for all their efforts in the immediate aftermath.”
“Both clubs will be fully co-operating with the police to identify those involved.”
“This is a very sad day for everyone connected with Flint Town United.”

Flint Town United’s crunch match against Caernarfon Town has been marred by crowd trouble this evening, forcing officials to abandon the game after an initial suspension of play.
The game, which was being broadcast live on S4C’s Sgorio, had just reached the 16-minute mark when the decision was made to suspend it.
At the time, Flint Town led the match 2-0.
Flint Town Chairman Darryl Williams, who was interviewed on television following the suspension, expressed his dismay at the unfolding events: “These are very sad scenes. This violence came from nowhere.”
Emergency services were called to Cae y Castell, with North Wales Police and the ambulance service responding to the situation.
In a state JD Cymru League said: “fixture between Flint Town United and Caernarfon Town at the Essity Stadium has been abandoned following an incident in the crowd.”
“The game was halted in the 16th minute and the players were taken off the pitch.”
Following conversations between stakeholders and advice from the police, the match was abandoned.
“A decision on any potential new date for the fixture will be communicated in due course.”
According to reports on social media, an air ambulance also landed nearby it has since left.
