A public information event is being held today to showcase the building work currently taking place in Flint.

The event will take place from 9am to 1pm at the Gaumont Plaza Cinema on Church Street where everyone will have the opportunity to learn more about the Walks housing development, the Llys Raddington extra care housing scheme and the new health centre.

Representatives from all the development partners, Flintshire County Council, Pennaf Housing Group and Betsi Cadwaladr University Hospital Trust will be on hand to offer advice and information about all the developments.

Also present will be the construction partners – Wates Residential (The Walks), Anwyl Construction (Llys Raddington) and Read Construction (the health centre).

NEW Homes, the company set up by the Council to increase the affordable housing options available to local residents, will also be on hand with information on properties they have available.

Flintshire County Council’s Chief Officer for Community and Enterprise, Clare Budden, said:

This is a great opportunity to show what has been achieved so far in Flint.

The Walks development, which forms part of the Council’s Strategic Housing and Regeneration Programme (SHARP) will see 92 new homes for local people, a mix of 2 and 3 bed houses and 1 and 2 bed apartments, which will breathe new life into the heart of the town.

Steve Robinson Extra Care Service Manager for Clwyd Alyn Housing Association, who will manage Llys Raddington on completion, said:

Llys Raddington offers an excellent option for people aged 60 and over from the Flintshire area to live independently in a high-quality, mobility-friendly apartment, with a secure tenancy and having the peace of mind of 24 hour access to care, as well as the benefit of a range of communal facilities on site.

These include areas such as a restaurant, communal lounge, assisted bathing, guest room, buggy store and sun lounge.
