Police appeal after ‘deliberate ignition’ fire in derelict Greenfield care home

North Wales Police have launched an appeal for information following a fire at the derelict Morfa Newydd Care Home in Greenfield on Sunday evening.
The blaze, which is believed to have been started deliberately, broke out at around 6pm.
The fire led to the closure of the A548 Mostyn Road for several hours, as six fire engines and an aerial ladder platform worked to extinguish the flames.
Fire crews from Deeside, Holywell, Flint, St Asaph, and Rhyl attended the scene.
The fire was brought under control and fully extinguished by 12.30am this morning.
In a statement, a police spokesperson said: “Last night there was an incident where Morfa Newydd Care Home, which is derelict, was on fire at around 6pm. It occurred on the A548 Mostyn Road, Greenfield, Holywell. At this moment in time, we believe this may have been deliberate ignition.
“We are requesting that anyone who may have seen or heard anything to please get in touch.
“Any dashcam footage or CCTV, please call or email 101 referencing Q195102.”
