Flintshire, is preparing to run his first London Marathon in 2025, raising vital funds for KnifeSavers UK in memory of his younger cousin, Dylan Bragger, who tragically lost his life to knife crime at the age of 15.
Warren Pilkington, 26, from Bagillt, has only recently fallen in love with running and was overjoyed when he received his acceptance email for the prestigious marathon after entering the ballot for the first time. “
I was absolutely ecstatic when I saw the words ‘You’re In,’”
Warren shared, reflecting on the excitement of securing a spot in the 2025 race.
“I knew immediately that I wanted to run for KnifeSavers UK, a charity close to my heart after what our family has been through.”
KnifeSavers, based in Merseyside and part of the NHS Foundation Trust, works to raise awareness of knife crime and provide life-saving education and tools to local communities.
The funds Warren raises will help the organisation expand its educational outreach and continue its fight against the growing knife crime epidemic.
Warren’s motivation comes from the deep loss his family experienced following the death of his cousin Dylan Bragger, which left a lasting impact on both his loved ones and the Skelmersdale community.
“After witnessing the devastating effect this has had on my family, I knew KnifeSavers was the perfect charity to support. I hope the money raised will help prevent future tragedies so no one else has to endure what we did.”
Although the 26-mile run in April 2025 will be a tough challenge, Warren is eager to start his training journey and make a positive impact. “This marathon is about more than running—it’s about making a difference. I’m excited to raise as much as possible for this incredible cause.”
Warren is currently fundraising through JustGiving, and the local community is encouraged to support his efforts in any way they can.
Every donation will contribute to KnifeSavers’ mission of saving lives and raising awareness of the dangers of knife crime.
