A £300 Fixed Penalty Notice has been issued to a Flintshire business for breaching their duty of care in relation to waste disposal.

The business owner was fined following an investigation by Denbighshire County Council’s Environmental Crime team, relating to a large-scale fly-tipping site that was discovered in Llanynys.

Denbighshire Council say that the investigation into the fly-tipping site uncovered items that traced back to a business in Flintshire, and a fixed penalty notice was issued as part of the Council’s ongoing efforts to tackle fly-tipping and reduce illegal waste disposal across the district.

Councillor Barry Mellor, Lead Member for Environment and Transport said: “We want to remind everyone in the County that they have a legal duty to ensure their waste is disposed of correctly by a licensed carrier.

“Fly-tipping and illegal waste disposal can have a serious impact on the environment, and we all have a responsibility to prevent it.

“This penalty highlights the Council’s commitment to ensuring waste is handled responsibly, in line with legal requirements, to protect the environment and tackle fly-tipping across the County.

“It reinforces the message that no matter how big or how small the incident, if we uncover evidence that leads us to those behind fly tipping, we will pursue them using all the legal powers at our disposal”.
