Celebrity Masterchef winner, author, and actress Lisa Faulkner is to headline this year’s Mold Food & Drink Festival.

Television chef Lisa has enjoyed a stellar cooking career since winning the BBC One competition.

Now a successful author with five books to her name, Lisa will make her first visit to North Wales on September 16th where she will cook for festival-goers and share her tips of the trade.

The 46-year-old, who lives in London with her partner, Masterchef host John Torode, and daughter Billie, 11, hopes to inspire families to cook together.

“This will be my first visit to North Wales and I am hoping to encourage families, not just to have a good time at the festival, but to go away afterwards and cook together.

As a family, we always try and sit down and eat at least one meal together a day, one where the phones go away. I hope, by coming to the festival, to show families dishes they can make and enjoy at home,” said Lisa.

Lisa’s latest book, From Mother to Mother, is packed with recipes passed on from fellow mums and famous faces including musician Myleene Klass and This Morning’s Fern Britton. Lisa, who recently starred as Fi Browning in EastEnders, hopes Mold’s festival-goers might share their own recipes with her too.

Lisa said: “For From Mother to Mother, lots of my friends and fellow mums were happy to pass on their recipes and let me play around with them.

I have many of my mum’s old recipes on bits of cards and envelopes and I still scribble notes in cookbooks. I enjoy that process of sharing recipes – what’s mine is yours.

I have had Welsh dishes in previous books but if anyone wants to bring theirs along to the festival and are happy to show me then I’d love to see them.”

Mold Food & Drink Festival’s children’s cookery theatre is one place Lisa is also looking forward to visiting.

“Like lots of children, my daughter comes home and wants to eat everything. I’m thinking about a new book at the moment based on quick, healthy snacks for children.

It’s really important to get children cooking, tasting, and trying different things, even if it is just helping out by stirring a sauce. Cookery theatres are a really good idea for inspiring children,” she added.

Mold Food & Drink Festival chairman John Les Tomos said he hoped Lisa’s visit would inspire a new generation of cooks.

He added: “Passing on recipes is a way of keeping cooking traditions and dishes alive – the festival is very much a family affair, so Lisa’s ethos of families cooking together really appeals to us.

Her enthusiasm for good, wholesome food which can be enjoyed by all the family links in nicely with what we’re all about, and we’re delighted Lisa’s first visit to North Wales will be spent with us.”

The festival will be held in Mold on Saturday, September 15 and Sunday, September 16th with Lisa appearing on the final day.
