One of Chester’s most respected musical groups, Chester Male Voice Choir, is set to join forces with Flintshire’s acclaimed Royal Buckley Town Band for a special concert at Chester Town Hall.

The Autumn Festival Concert, scheduled for Wednesday 16th October at 7pm, promises an evening of varied musical delights, featuring everything from songs from the shows to light classical pieces and beloved favourites.

Under the direction of Joe Mann, Chester Male Voice Choir will be accompanied by pianist Helen Jackson. Joining them will be the Royal Buckley Town Band, led by Keith Gorton Jones.

The brass band, established in 1822, is one of the oldest in the UK and is known for its versatility, performing a wide range of music, from traditional brass pieces to modern pop arrangements.

Holding the prestigious ‘Royal Title’, the band is a regular presence at concerts, charity events, and even sporting fixtures.

Chester Male Voice Choir, founded in 1941, has a rich history of performing both nationally and internationally.

The choir has toured widely, including in the United States and Europe, and has even performed in front of Queen Elizabeth II. With a diverse repertoire, the choir is known for its ability to engage audiences with its eclectic musical choices.

Speaking ahead of the concert, Ron Webster, Chairman of Chester Male Voice Choir, expressed his excitement for the collaboration. “We are especially pleased to welcome as our special guests The Royal Buckley Town Band and their Musical Director Keith Gorton Jones. In collaboration with our guests, the evening will be full of fun and excellent music,” he said, encouraging newcomers to experience the live power of a male voice choir.

Tickets for the Autumn Festival Concert can be purchased online through the Chester Male Voice Choir’s website or from Chester Visitor Centre at the Town Hall. A limited number of tickets will also be available on the door.

For those attending, the event promises to be a unique celebration of choral and brass band music, marking a highlight in the musical calendar of Chester.
