Virtual Front Row: How Deeside’s Artists and Venues Are Embracing Live Streaming

News and Info from Deeside, Flintshire, North Wales

Which Theatres Are Offering Live Streaming?

One of the most famous theatres in the region to introduce live streaming is Theatr Clwyd in Mold. This venue was ahead of its time, and one of the earliest to experiment with the idea of broadcasting its shows to people at home. Indeed, it brought in live streaming for select shows way back in 2018, and its pioneering efforts inspired many others up and down the country.

Theatr Clwyd teamed up with the Anglo-Danish tech company, Streamer, and marketed their live streams to a wider audience beyond Deeside. This highlighted the potential of the technology to have a transformative effect on the theatre industry. In the years since, it has inspired many smaller venues in the region to do the same thing to reach more people.

Why is Live Streaming so Popular?

Live streaming has been around for a while, but it only got big towards the end of the 2010s. That’s when Facebook introduced it to its platform and made it mainstream. In the early days of Facebook’s integration, the technology blew up and became one of the main ways that people connected on the platform. Then, live streaming spread to other industries, with ecommerce being another huge beneficiary.

It began earlier than that at online casinos, though, where developers used it to bring players closer to the games than ever. Initially, these games covered traditional tables only, but interest in live casino in the UK has grown so much that there are now countless options to choose from. These include titles like Live Mega Fire Blaze Roulette and Live Majestic Wheel Show. With so many people wanting to play live streamed games, developers have ensured that they cater for all tastes.

According to some projections, VR will be mainstream by 2030. By this time, the technology could well be integrated with live streaming to make people feel like they are physically attending real world events. This would allow them to experience what it’s like to sit in a theatre and watch a show in person.

While it’s still obvious that you’re watching live streamed theatre through a screen, it’s still a great experience and a way to connect with the local art community. In the future, VR could make this even better.
