Tuesday 14th October: Police warning about rogue traders after a burglary incident in Hawarden today.

Flintshire Burglary Team are appealing for information following an incident in Hawarden today – 14th October.

At approximately 10.30am a male attended an address in the Highway area of Hawarden purporting to be from the council, he claimed to be checking guttering.

He asked the resident to go and check the gutters whilst he ran the taps, once inside the male stole the householders purse.

Yesterday a similar incident occurred in the Dodds Drive area of Shotton.

At around 2pm on Monday October 13th, a man called at an address in Dodds Drive area of Shotton.

He is described as being in his 20’s, 5’5” to 5’6” tall with short dark hair, he was wearing a dark blue shirt and dark trousers and had a ‘local’ accent.

The male told the occupant that he was from the council and that they had a blockage, he told the householder to put the taps on in the bathroom. 

After the man left the property the occupant discovered that a mobile phone and purse have been stolen.

Meanwhile Police are asking members of the Public if they saw anything suspicious in Garden City last night (Monday 13th Oct|) Vauxhall Vectra parked  in Riverside Park had a window smashed and lap top stolen.

There have also reports of a suspicious male in Connah’s Quay this morning, Tuesday 14th October, who was claiming to be from BT – Police would like to speak to him, has he visited your house?
