Seven postcode lottery winners from Holywell each win £30,000
There are seven smiling Holywell players after their postcode, CH8 7LR, was drawn in Sunday’s Street Prize.
The seven have each picked up a fabulous £30,000 cheque!
Welsh People’s Postcode Lottery presenter Matt Johnson was knocking on doors and ringing bells in West Drive with a camera crew in tow, ready to capture winners’ reactions.
Matt delivered golden envelopes containing the surprise cheques to lucky winners including Robert, a kitchen assistant at a nearby nursing home for people with dementia.
He said, “I started playing People’s Postcode Lottery because it raises money for such good causes, but I never thought anything like this would happen to someone like me!
“I’ll do some home improvements and spend some money on the grandkids. We’ll have a great Christmas and next year we’ll go on a camping holiday in Wales. Why go abroad? Wales has everything!
“I’ve got my eye on a nice new stereo to play my LPs on too. I’m a big fan of ‘the King’, Elvis Presley.”
Civil servant Angelina made some special preparations when she found out about her People’s Postcode Lottery win. She said,“At first I thought it was a joke when I found out that I’d won. When I was told that a camera crew would be visiting, I even washed the front door!
“It was a real shock to see Matt, and when I saw that golden envelope, I just couldn’t wait to see what was in it. I still can’t believe it! My daughter and I can have a great Christmas now. I think I’ll decorate the house and maybe treat myself to a spa day somewhere nice with a friend, too.”
Fellow winner Jane was joined by her husband Colin when she was presented with her prize. She said, “We’ve had a pretty rubbish couple of years, so this is absolutely amazing – and just before Christmas too! It was so exciting to see the guys in red coats walking up our street with a nice big cheque.
“I never win anything, but I started playing People’s Postcode Lottery after I saw the adverts on TV.”
Amanda, a secretary, was another winner. She said, “This is beyond my wildest dreams! I never thought it would happen to me and it means the world. I’m a single mum, and my daughter and I have not had a holiday together since 2010. We’d both love to go to New York and this means that now I can treat her.”
