Almost Home Dog Rescue, based in Mold, is seeking loving homes for four special dogs—Rowan, Ash, Aspen, and Coco—who were rescued from neglect after being part of a group taken in from a ‘backyard breeder’.

The dogs, who had spent their early lives isolated in a dark outbuilding with minimal human interaction, were among a group of 12 saved by the rescue.

Several of their companions have already been adopted and are thriving in their new homes, but these four still need patient, committed adopters.

“These guys hadn’t seen anything when they arrived,” Almost Home Dog Rescue shared on Facebook. “They were feral, but we knew we had to help them despite the challenges.”

Since arriving at the rescue nine weeks ago, the dogs have made great strides, though they remain cautious around people.

“A couple of them will eat from your hands now, and they all give you a good sniff. Each day, we see more of their individual personalities,” the rescue reported.

Though still unable to walk on a lead, the dogs have begun responding to their names and enjoy playtime, which is helping to build trust.

Given their background, these dogs will require very patient, empathetic adopters willing to invest significant time in their ongoing rehabilitation.

Due to their nervous nature, they are not suited to homes with children, and some may need to live with other neutered dogs for support.

Potential adopters will need to make several trips to the rescue’s headquarters in Mold to form a bond before adoption.

“These guys are going to need very committed, empathic humans,” the rescue emphasised. Almost Home Dog Rescue is offering full behavioural support for life to ensure adopters have all the help they need in giving these dogs a chance to thrive.

The four dogs have all been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and have passed full health checks. The rescue is pleased with their physical recovery and noted they are gaining weight and condition well.

Almost Home Dog Rescue is urging the public to share the dogs’ story to help find them the perfect homes. “Please think carefully before applying. This has to be their forever home.”
