Fans of both Leeds United and Newcastle United joined together in an emotional and touching 11th-minute tribute to the late Gary Speed during their Championship fixture today.

The former Wales manager was a legend at both clubs, playing over 300 times for Leeds between 1988 and 1996, and 285 times for Newcastle between 1997 and 2004.

Gary Speed’s parents joined club officials on the pitch before today’s game applauding both sets of fans.

The tribute comes just a week before the fifth anniversary of the former Welsh international’s death on November 27.

Both teams wore T-shirts with Gary’s image on the front and ‘Speed 11’ on the back during the warm-up at a sell out Elland Road, the first full house in six years.
