Wrexham’s Glyndwr University has had a subtle rebrand, which will see the location of the institution now included in its name.

A spokesperson for the university said: “Having consulted with partners and stakeholders and received feedback from student and staff recruitment … it has been agreed the university will henceforth be promoted as ‘Wrexham Glyndŵr University’.

The change has been explained as being able to “brings our location to the forefront” and “gives prospective students and other partners a clearer picture of where we are based, emphasising our position at the heart of north east Wales.

A revised logo has also been produced which the University says: “Will help reinforce the clarification of our geographic position as we build new relationships on the national and international stage, cementing our identity in the minds of future students and academic partners overseas.

“The transition will be gradual and involve a rolling programme over the coming months.”

There is no legal name change to the University, will remain Glyndŵr University, with the change descirbed as ‘strategic marketing choice’.

“We believe this will help to ensure the successful execution of our strategic framework and commitment to our development as the university of, and for, our region.”
