Elfed High thanks Jewson for garden tools donation

News and Info from Deeside, Flintshire, North Wales

Elfed High School in Buckley has thanked local business Jewson Ltd for supporting its expanded Garden Project, which will now include a new food-growing area focused on fruit and vegetables.

The school has dedicated a larger section of its grounds to the initiative, aiming to get more students involved in horticulture while helping families access fresh, locally grown produce.

Staff at Elfed High say the project offers pupils practical skills and valuable time outdoors, while also addressing food insecurity in the community.

All crops grown will be distributed to students to take home, and any surplus produce will be donated to vulnerable individuals within Buckley.

After learning about the school’s plans, Jewson’s Buckley branch donated a wheelbarrow and essential gardening tools to help students make the most of the expanded space.

Adam Blackburn, Branch Manager at Jewson Ltd Buckley, said: “We are delighted to be able to support Elfed High School and its students. Expanding their Garden Project to create a purposely designed food garden is such a worthwhile project and one we are delighted to support.”
