Don’t fall for it! Flintshire Trading Standards warn of fraudulent Amazon phone scam

Flintshire residents are being warned about a recent telephone scam, with fraudsters posing as Amazon representatives and claiming that £95 has been debited from their account.
Trading Standards are urging residents to be cautious and not to give out any personal or financial information if they receive such a call.
According to reports, residents have been receiving pre-recorded messages that appear to be from a local number, claiming to be from Amazon.
The message advises the resident that their Amazon account has been paid and that £95 has been debited from their account.
However, this is a scam and residents are being urged not to press any numbers on their phone or give out any personal or financial details.
Trading Standards are reminding residents that if they do wish to check their bank account, they should contact their bank using the contact details on any bank statements they may have.
They are also urging residents to be vigilant and to report any suspicious phone calls to the authorities.
If you receive a phone call that you suspect may be a scam, put the phone down and contact the bank or relevant authorities immediately.
