Deeside Stadium in Connah’s Quay will play a key role in the UEFA U19 EURO Elite Round this month, hosting three international fixtures featuring England, Portugal, and Türkiye.

The first match at Deeside Stadium will take place on Wednesday, 19 March, when Portugal face Türkiye at 11am.

England will then play Türkiye on Saturday, 22 March, also at 11am, before the final match at the venue sees England take on Portugal on Tuesday, 25 March, with a 7pm kick-off.

While Cymru’s matches will be held in Bangor and Rhyl, Deeside Stadium’s fixtures will be streamed live on the FAW’s RedWall+ platform, giving fans the opportunity to watch the action unfold.

The tournament serves as a crucial stage in youth international football, with several Cymru U19 players having featured in the 2023 UEFA U17 EURO finals, the first time a Cymru age group side had qualified for a major finals since 1981.

This year’s competition is also a stepping stone toward the 2026 UEFA U19 EURO finals, which will be hosted in north Wales next summer.

Cymru U19 head coach Chris Gunter said: “It’s going to be a great experience for our players to be playing at this stage in the elite rounds. They deserve this opportunity from the results in November and to play in front of our own fans. We have an exciting group of players involved that have the aim to represent our National Team in years to come.”

S4C Sports Commissioner Sue Butler added: “S4C is delighted to be covering this Under 19s Elite Round taking place in north Wales. Our commitment illustrates S4C’s continuing support for Welsh football across all levels of the game.”
