A GP surgery in Connah’s Quay has launched a public consultation on its future in the town.

St Mark’s Dee View Surgery within The Quay Health Centre has been under the management of the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board since 2019.

The health board has initiated a public consultation to determine the surgery’s management path, offering three options to the residents.

The first option proposes no change, which would keep the surgery under the health board’s management.

The second option suggests promoting the practice to attract new GP partners ready to take over.

Under this path, services would likely continue at the current premises, with some changes in management and different doctors and nurses providing the service.

A third option considers dispersing patients, which would mean relocating St Marks Dee View Surgery patients to another practice close to their homes.

Surgery patients have received letters detailing potential futures, highlighting the importance of community input. “It’s vital that patients share their views,” said Alyn and Deeside MP Mark Tami, recognising the strong opinions constituents hold about GP services and their management.

The consultation aims to hear from those affected before making any decisions. Patients and the community can give feedback through various channels, including email, post, and a dedicated post box at the surgery.

Managing local GP services is crucial for residents, impacting healthcare access and the community’s overall well-being.

The health board has said, “Nothing will change without your knowledge.”

With the consultation now open, the coming weeks are pivotal for St Mark’s Dee View Surgery and its patients.

There are several ways to contact the health board if you want to comment or give feedback on the options outlined:
