Apprentices from Deeside have enjoyed success at a prestigious national awards ceremony.

The Engineering Employers Federation (EEF) Wales Awards 2013 were held last week and the finalists and winners board was dominated by students from Connah’s Quay’s Coleg Cambria.

The annual awards showcase the very best of British innovation and excellence and celebrate the achievements of apprentices and young engineering students. Winners from Coleg Cambria were:

1st Year Apprentice

1st – Sion Lloyd (JCB), 2nd – Rhys Vicent (Airbus), Highly Commended – Josh Jenkins (DRB)

2nd Year Apprentice

1st – Devon Sumner (Airbus)

3rd Year Apprentice

1st Daniel Biggs (JCB), 2nd Jonathan Humphries (Kelloggs), Highly Commended – Natasha Cooper (UPM)

4th Year Apprentice

1st – Dan Holland (Airbus)

PTA Apprentice

2nd – Hayley Keeley (Raytheon)

Alyn and Deeside AM Carl Sargeant said: “These talented and hardworking young people should be exceptionally proud of their achievements.

“Their skills and dedication will ensure that Deeside continues to lead the way in industry and I have no doubt they will continue to reap the rewards in the future.”
