Mold Road collision involving a cyclist – police appeal for witnesses.

Police are investigating a road traffic collision which took place earlier today at the roundabout on Mold Road, Connah’s Quay with the Junction of Ffordd Llanarth.

Emergency services were called just before 2pm after a cyclist was involved in a collision with a white Mitsubishi L200 pick up.

Police closed roads around the scene of the accident while emergency services dealt with the incident.

The Hawarden based police helicopter was deployed to assist North Wales police with the accident.

A female cyclist was been taken to the Countess of Chester hospital vwith serious injuries.

Police accident investigators remained at the scene for around two hours, the section of road where the accident took place was cordoned off with police tape.

One person who was close by when the accident happened told us:

“I went to help the old lady, another car user said the cyclist slipped from her bike and the 4 by 4 ran over, Hope she is ok”

While Mike Clarke said:

“I came off my bike on that roundabout 2 weeks ago; similar day to today-certain there was diesel on the road making it slippy”

Police are appealing for anybody who may have witnessed the collision to contact officers on 101, quoting reference number U104385.
