P&A Group, based in Mold, has announced that it has exceeded its 2024 charity fundraising target, donating £18,800 to Mind North East Wales.

This impressive figure is nearly double its original goal of £10,000 and was raised by employees from its three divisions: P&A Pallets, The Woodworks Garden Centre, and Zest Outdoor Living Garden Products.

The company presented the cheque during its Christmas celebrations, where Andrew Baker, Managing Director of P&A Group, described the occasion as “one of the most special moments of our company’s Christmas celebration.”

He added, “We couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve achieved together as a team.”

Adding to the festive generosity, the group also donated £2,000 to Shelter Cymru.

This additional sum came from employees who chose to forgo their Christmas gifts in favour of contributing to Shelter Cymru’s work supporting vulnerable individuals.

A Year of Community Effort

The £18,800 raised for Mind North East Wales came from a wide range of initiatives undertaken by P&A employees throughout the year.

These included participation in major sporting events such as the Manchester Marathon, the Chester 10K, and Iron Man Wales.

Employees also took part in a daring 150-foot abseil down Liverpool Cathedral and organised fun community events such as quiz nights, cake bakes, raffles, and a 24-hour relay walk.

“Every member of our team, alongside our families, friends, and customers, played a crucial role in helping us achieve this success,” said Mr Baker.

He extended special thanks to the fundraising team leaders and all who took on personal challenges to support the cause.

He continued, “Raising awareness of mental health is just as important to us as the funds we’ve raised. Giving back to our community is a cornerstone of what we do, and we’re honoured to support Mind North East Wales in their essential work.”

Since beginning its charitable fundraising efforts 14 years ago, P&A Group has raised nearly £175,000 for various organisations.

As the company approaches its 40th anniversary in 2025, it has set a goal to raise a total of £200,000 by the end of its milestone year.

Mind North East Wales provides vital mental health services to communities across Flintshire and Wrexham, including telephone counselling, emotional support, and online resources.

P&A Group’s past charity efforts have supported organisations such as Dementia UK, British Heart Foundation, and Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, among others.
