The Met Office has issued a yellow alert for freezing fog in parts of Flintshire this morning.

Drivers are being warned to take extra care on the roads as freezing fog is set to cause difficult driving conditions

The warning, issued by the Met Office at 4.20am on Tuesday 24th January, states that areas of freezing fog have formed and will be dense at times, slow to clear from some places, and visibility could be as low as 50 to 100 metres in a few areas.

The warning also states that untreated surfaces could turn icy, making it even more dangerous for drivers.

“Commuters should expect slower journey times and possible delays to bus and train services.”

The Met Office advises that individuals should take extra care when travelling in fog, slow down and use dipped headlights.

Drivers should also keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front, as visibility can be severely reduced in foggy conditions.

For those travelling by bus or train, please check with your service provider for any updates or delays.

The warning is in place until 10.30am.
