A lifesaving emergency service is among the beneficiaries of this year’s Farmhouse Breakfast Week, with events across Wales raising funds for the Wales Air Ambulance Charity.

The Farmers’ Union of Wales has confirmed it will continue its long-standing support for the charity during the annual fundraising week, which brings rural communities together over locally sourced breakfasts.

FUW President Ian Rickman has named the Wales Air Ambulance Charity as his chosen charity from 2023 to 2026, with Farmhouse Breakfast Week marking the first major fundraising activity of 2026.

More than 20 breakfast events will take place across Wales, including in Denbighshire and Flintshire, with venues such as Llannefydd Village Hall and Rhosesmor Village Hall hosting gatherings later this month.

Last year’s Farmhouse Breakfast Week raised more than £13,500 for the charity.

Ian Rickman said: “January can be a challenging time for farmers, with short days, cold weather, and plenty to do on the farm.

“The Farmhouse Breakfast Week offers a perfect opportunity for farmers, friends, and our rural communities to come together, share the load, and enjoy a hearty breakfast.

“There’s a warm welcome to everyone to join us and we look forward to successful events in kitchens, community centres and cafes across Wales again this year, celebrating the best of local produce and raising funds for important charitable causes, including the Wales Air Ambulance Charity.”

The Wales Air Ambulance Charity provides consultant-led emergency care, delivering hospital-standard treatment at the scene and transferring patients directly to the most appropriate hospital where needed.

The service relies on public donations to raise around £13 million each year to keep helicopters and rapid response vehicles operating across Wales. It works in partnership with the NHS, with the Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service supplying specialist consultants and critical care practitioners.

As a pan-Wales service, crews respond to incidents across the country, regardless of where they are based.

Farmhouse Breakfast Week is supported by FUW Insurance Services Ltd.

Ann Beynon OBE, Chair of FUW Insurance Services, said: “We’re delighted to be supporting the Farmhouse Breakfast Week once again this year. Rooted at the heart of rural communities, our business is proud to help bring people together to celebrate exceptional local Welsh produce and enjoy the company of friends and neighbours.

“The week perfectly showcases the strength and spirit of rural Wales, all over a plate of breakfast.”

Dr Sue Barnes, Chief Executive of the Wales Air Ambulance Charity, said: “Farmhouse Breakfast Week is a wonderful way to reconnect with friends and truly welcome in 2026.

“We would like to extend our thanks to FUW President Ian Rickman and the entire team for their support during our charity partnership.

“On 1 March, we will mark our 25th anniversary. We are so grateful to all our supporters who have been part of our journey and made Wales Air Ambulance what it is today.”
