Reform UK now has nine councillors on Flintshire County Council

Flintshire County Council’s own website now lists nine councillors as members of the Reform UK group.
The council’s committee pages show Cllr Marion Bateman, who represents Northop, Cllr Adele Davies-Cooke, who represents Gwernaffield and Gwernymynydd, and Cllr Roz Mansell, who represents Connah’s Quay: Wepre, as the latest additions.
Cllr Davies-Cooke was previously elected as a Conservative, sharing her ward with Cllr David Coggins Cogan of the Liberal Democrats.
Cllr Bateman and Cllr Mansell had both previously sat as Independent councillors.
The council’s website lists Cllr Helen Brown, who represents Hawarden: Aston, as Leader of the Reform Group, and Cllr Kristian Salkeld, who represents Leeswood, as Deputy Leader.
The other members listed are Cllr Ian Hodge, who represents Holywell East, Cllr Mike Peers, who represents Buckley: Pentrobin, Cllr David Richardson, who represents Connah’s Quay: Golftyn, and Cllr Dale Selvester, who represents Queensferry and Sealand.

Cllr Selvester confirmed his own move to Reform UK in a Facebook post on 1 July.
“I have made the decision to join Reform,” he said.
“I have spoken to residents within my ward prior to joining and the reception I received was extremely positive.
“I will continue to serve my community in the same manner and ensure my residents views are heard.”
Cllr Peers’ move was announced by Cllr Salkeld on Facebook.
“We’re very excited to announce that Mr Mike Peers has officially joined Reform UK,” Salkeld said.
“Mike is a huge asset to us, with vast experience across the board.
“Mike is the Councillor for Buckley Pentrobin.
“He’s also on the Buckley town council.
“Welcome to the team Mike.”
Cllr Bateman also chairs the council’s Community and Housing Overview and Scrutiny Committee.
The growth of the Reform Group comes as Flintshire voters go to the polls today in two separate by-elections.
One is in Connah’s Quay Central, following the resignation of Cllr Bernie Attridge.
The other is in Argoed and New Brighton, following the death of Cllr Hilary McGuill.
Polls opened at 7am and close at 10pm.
