Connah’s Quay man charged with murder of 2-month-old baby boy

A 22 year old man has been charged with the murder of a 2-month-old baby boy in Connah’s Quay.

Sean Michael Mullender was charged this morning following an investigation into the circumstances around the death of the baby boy in Connah’s Quay last October.

North Wales Police were contacted by health officials on October 2nd 2014 who were concerned about the circumstances under which a 2-month-old baby boy was admitted to the Countess of Chester Hospital from his home in Connahs Quay.

The child was transferred for further treatment to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool where he sadly passed away on Saturday October 4th.

A 22-year-old man was arrested at the time and following interview he was bailed to allow officers time to conduct further enquiries.

DI Mark Hughes of North Wales Police said

“As a result of a protracted investigation by North Wales Police,  22 year Sean Michael Mullender has been charged this morning with the murder of Daniel John Mullender.

His bail was refused and he will appear later today before Wrexham Magistrates Court.”
