A wall collapsed on a man in Padeswood, one of two rescues for NEWSAR on Father’s Day

North East Wales Search and Rescue volunteers responded to two separate incidents on Father’s Day Sunday, including a man injured when a wall collapsed onto him in Padeswood.
The team was called out just before 11am after the man fell down a steep bank, with the wall coming down on him during the fall.
The initial report indicated a serious leg injury and a potentially difficult extraction.
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service reached the casualty and completed the extraction before the search and rescue team arrived, and volunteers already on their way were stood down.
Later the same afternoon, at around 3pm, North East Wales Search and Rescue was contacted by North Wales Police following a mountain biking incident in Llandegla.
With support from staff at Oneplanet Adventure, the casualty was located quickly.
Welsh Ambulance Service provided pain relief before the casualty was placed in a vacuum mattress and transferred to a stretcher.
The team evacuated the casualty to the road using a stretcher wheel and back-up ropes, where they were handed over to a Helimed aircraft.
North East Wales Search and Rescue said: “A huge thank you to every volunteer who responded today, especially those who gave up their sunny Sunday afternoon and Father’s Day to help others.”
