Seven-month road closures and National Grid works among Flintshire’s roadworks this week

Drivers across Flintshire are facing road closures and temporary traffic lights at dozens of locations this week, with three roads in Penyffordd closed for water works that are scheduled to run until January 2027.

Hafren Dyfrdwy is carrying out the works on Terrace Lane and Lower Mountain Lane in Penyffordd, with both closures starting Monday 22 June.

A third Hafren Dyfrdwy closure on Terrace Lane began on 18 June as emergency works and runs until 24 June.

Chester Road Service Road in Penymynydd is also closed for Hafren Dyfrdwy water works from 22 June, also running until 29 January 2027.

In Flint, National Grid has two roads closed simultaneously for electrical works.

Nant Road and Halkyn Road are both shut, with closures running from 8 June until 20 July.

Wales and West Utilities also has three-way temporary lights on both Cornist Lane and Windsor Drive in Flint for gas works scheduled to last until 29 June.

In Queensferry, Chester Road East and Queen Street remain closed for gas works by Wales and West Utilities, with that closure running from 15 June until 17 July.

Dee View in Queensferry is also closed for electrical works by OConnor Utilities from 22 to 26 June.

In Shotton, four-way temporary traffic lights remain in place on Chester Road West for active travel improvement works being carried out by Flintshire County Council’s Streetscene Services.

Those lights have been in place since 2 February and are not due to be removed until 12 September.

In Connah’s Quay, Golftyn Drive is closed for electrical works by SPEN Network Plus until 23 June, and Garthorpe Avenue has two-way lights for BT works from 22 to 23 June.

In Buckley, Well Street is closed for construction works by Charles L Warren until 26 June, and Mount Pleasant Road is closed for gas works by Wales and West Utilities from 22 to 25 June.

Higher Common Road in Buckley is closed for water works by Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water on 24 and 25 June, and Nant Mawr Road has two-way lights for water works from 22 to 24 June.

In Mold, Hendy Road is closed for electrical works by Quartzelec from 22 to 26 June.

Gwernaffield Road has both a set of two-way lights for construction works by Anwyl Construction until 23 June and three-way lights for water works by Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water from 24 to 26 June.

Denbigh Road in Mold has two-way lights for water works by Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water on 25 and 26 June, and Chester Road in Northop Hall has two-way lights for highways maintenance on 25 June.

Factory Pool Lane in Mold remains closed for construction works by Anwyl Construction, with that closure running until March 2027.

In Mancot, Ash Lane has two-way lights in place until 3 July for construction works by PN Daly, and Sunnyside has two-way lights for water works until 23 June.

In Sandycroft, Philip Street remains closed for flood defence works being carried out by William Hughes Civil Engineering on behalf of Natural Resources Wales, the Welsh Government body responsible for flood risk management, until 22 June.

In Ewloe, Wood Lane has three-way lights for highways maintenance from 22 to 26 June, and the access road to Flintshire County Council’s offices at St Davids Roundabout is closed from 24 to 26 June for Welsh Government active travel works.

In Saltney Ferry, the B5129 Flint Road is closed for highways maintenance from 24 to 26 June.

In Higher Kinnerton, Barracks Lane is closed for construction works by Hollingsworth Group from 22 to 26 June, and Main Road has two-way lights for water works by Hafren Dyfrdwy from 23 to 25 June.

In Pantymwyn, Pen Y Fron Road is closed for electrical works by OConnor Utilities from 22 to 26 June, with a one-way system also in place on Pen Y Fron Road and Llyn Y Pandy Lane from the same date.

In Nercwys, Ffordd Y Pentre has two-way lights for electrical works by SPEN Network Plus until 24 June, and Cae Newydd Road is closed for water works by Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water from 25 to 27 June.

In Caergwrle, Wrexham Road has two-way lights for gas works by Bethell Utility Services until 26 June.

On the A541 and B5123 junction at Rhydymwyn, three-way lights remain in place for highways maintenance until 14 July.

On the A548 between Rock Hill and Isglan Road junction near Mostyn, two-way lights are in place for telecommunications works by OCU Group until 26 June.

Mold Road in Broughton has two-way lights for BT Openreach works on 25 June.

In Penyffordd, Lower Mountain Lane also had three-way lights in place for water works by Hafren Dyfrdwy until 22 June.
