Police renew appeal for witnesses after an assault at Runcorn Station leaves man in critical condition

British Transport Police officers are renewing their appeal for information about an assault on a man last Saturday at Runcorn Station.

The incident occurred on the 9.34pm train from Liverpool Lime Street to Birmingham.

Investigating officer DCI Iain Miller said:

“As the train approached Runcorn an altercation took place which resulted in a 53-year-old man being assaulted and sustaining a serious head injury.

The victim of this assault is in a critical but stable condition and police are re issuing their appeal for more witnesses to what happened to come forward.”

A 56-year-old man arrested at the scene has been bailed.

Anyone with information is asked to contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40, or text 61016, quoting background reference PSUB/B9 of 02/12/14. Information can also be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
