Bin collection days for people across Flintshire will be changing over the festive period.

Residents are being encouraged to check for changes to their bin collection days over the Christmas and New Year period.

To accommodate increased waste over the period, collection crews will be working longer hours, Flintshire Council has said.

Collection times may be later than usual. On December 27, 28, 29, and 30, crews will be collecting until 5.30 pm. On January 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7, they will be collecting until 5.15 pm.

The council is asking residents not to report a missed collection until after these times.

To efficiently handle the festive waste, extra vehicles will assist on each round.

This might lead to situations where residents believe only part of their recycling has been collected, while the rest appears to be left behind.

However, a second vehicle is scheduled to collect the remaining waste later.

Important Schedule Changes:

Residents should be aware of the following key changes to the collection schedule:

  • Collections due on Monday, December 25, will occur on Wednesday, December 27, for black bin and food waste.
  • Collections scheduled for Tuesday, December 26, are moved to Thursday, December 28.
  • If your black bin collection isn’t due on December 25 or 26, food waste will be collected on the subsequent Wednesday or Thursday, and recycling will be collected the following week along with your black bin.
  • All collections in the week commencing January 1 will be delayed by a day.
  • Normal collection days will resume from Monday, January 8.

All household waste recycling centres will remain open throughout the festive period, except on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day.
