Two new councillors for Saltney Town Council following Thursdays election
Polls closed at 10pm in last nights Saltney Town Council – Stonebridge ward election, with the results announced soon afterwards.
Jason Shallcross and Cherry Evans both independent candidates were elected to the town council with 309 and 215 votes respectively.
There were 644 votes in total cast yesterday.
The win prompted Councillor Veronica Gay to tweet;
The sun is shining very brightly in saltney tonight Jason and cherry congratulations

Given the chequered history in Saltney of the third candidate, Mr Klaus Armstrong-Braun he received a fairly respectable 120 votes.
Prior to the election there was a feeling locally that the two vacancies should be filled by candidates who live in Saltney, and have a genuine interest in the town, and its future development and growth.
Speculation around whether Mr Armstrong-Braun`s had a political future grew a little last night, with one resident tweeting;
Saltney has spoken and still don’t like you Mr Armstrong-Braun. Time to give up me thinks
