Two Flintshire schools impacted by weather conditions

Due to the wintry weather conditions, two schools in Flintshire will be closed or partially closed today, Tuesday, 7 January.
Argoed High School in Mynydd Isa is partially closed as a result of heating issues, while St John the Baptist Church in Wales Voluntary Aided School in Penymynydd is fully closed due to weather conditions.
Hawarden High School Headteacher said: “The school is open as normal today. However, some of the pavements around the school remain untreated and are precarious.”
“Students arriving on foot are advised to take extra care and may wear trainers or other appropriate footwear.”
More snow fell in parts of Flintshire overnight, although not as heavily as during the previous two days.
A Met Office Yellow Alert remains in place until 10am today, with icy stretches and sleet or snow showers expected to cause disruption.
Drivers are urged to take extra precautions and ensure their vehicles are winter-ready, including carrying essentials such as warm clothing, an ice scraper, and a fully charged phone.
The Met Office warns of a risk of injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces and advises pedestrians and cyclists to avoid untreated paths, opting instead for main roads or pavements that are likely to have been gritted.
