Tony’s Chocolonely expands recall over stone fears

Tony’s Chocolonely has expanded a recall of two of its chocolate products amid concerns they could contain small stones, which could pose a risk to consumers.
The recall affects the company’s Dark Almond Sea Salt 180g bars and Everything Bar 180g bars, with several batch codes and best-before dates now included in the alert.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) updated the recall notice on Wednesday to include additional dates and batch numbers, replacing an earlier announcement.
According to the updated notice, affected batches of the Dark Almond Sea Salt bar include codes 162633, 162614, 163061 and 163472 with best-before dates ranging from 28 February 2026 to 22 April 2026.
For the Everything Bar, the affected batch codes are 4331, 4332 and 4333, with best-before dates from 26 to 28 November 2025.
The FSA states that the possible presence of small stones makes the products unsafe to eat.
Tony’s Chocolonely has issued point-of-sale notices to all retailers stocking the affected products.
These notices explain the reason for the recall and advise customers on what steps to take if they have purchased the items.
Customers are urged not to eat the products and to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
Tony’s Chocolonely spokesperson said:
“We are extremely sorry to have to issue this recall, and for the inconvenience that this will cause people who purchased these products. Whilst the probability of a product being affected is low, we always put the safety and satisfaction of our consumers first and that is why we have made the decision to recall these products. We apologise to consumers and our partners for the impact this will have.”
