A vehicle break-in has led to the theft of work tools valued at approximately £1000.

The incident, which occurred between 5 pm and 6:30 pm on Tuesday, December 19, took place on Killins Lane in  Shotton.

The stolen items were removed from the front seat of a car parked at the bottom of Killins Lane according to a post on social media.

The bag, containing various tools, is not only essential for the owner’s livelihood but also holds significant sentimental value.

Police have issued advice to locals on safeguarding their vehicles.

Key recommendations include:

  • Double-checking that all vehicle doors are locked and windows are closed when unoccupied.
  • Parking in areas covered by CCTV or street lighting.
  • Considering the purchase of CCTV for properties, covering driveways and parking spots.
  • Installing security lighting around the property to deter potential thieves.
  • Removing all valuables from vehicles when left unoccupied, or ensuring they are not visible from outside.

A notable suggestion from the police is the use of SmartWater, a forensic marking tool that makes items traceable back to the owner if stolen.

North Wales Police are currently offering a discount code for SmartWater, reducing the price from £59.50 to £25.

This initiative allows residents to mark up to 80 items, providing an added layer of security and increasing the chances of recovering stolen goods.

Any information about the theft can be passed to North Wales Police, click here.
