Flintshire Council latest update on services during the snow and icy weather

Updated: An amber weather warning is now in place for Flintshire with heavy snowfall expected to continue throughout the day and into the night.
The Met Office upgraded a yellow weather warning to amber, running from midday Thursday until 9am on Friday.
Forecasters expect as much as 20 cm of snow to fall in parts of Flintshire with as much as 30cm on higher ground.
All 82 schools in the county are closed today as a result of adverse weather conditions, a decision has now been taken to ‘recommend’ they remain closed on Friday.
The council has issued an update this afternoon on its services and how they may be impacted during the adverse.
Heavy snow is likely to cause significant disruption through Thursday into early Friday.
Buckley Town Centre Place Making Consultation event – cancelled this evening
The Buckley Town Centre Place Making Consultation event due to take place this evening (9/3/23) at the Jubilee Court Community Centre is postponed.
The event has been rescheduled to Thursday 23 March 2023 between 6pm -8pm at the Jubilee Court Community Centre
Schools
All Schools in Flintshire will be closed on Friday 10 March 2023.
Social Care
All day care and learning disability centres will closed on Friday 10 March 2023.Home care visits are continuing to be made with many home care workers making the journey by foot to reach vulnerable residents.
Council and Sheltered Housing
Council house repair services are continuing to operate with a focus on emergency and urgent work. Tenants with pre-booked appointments are being contacted by phone.

Our Estate caretakers are continuing visits to sheltered housing estates to ensure footways are clear and treated.
Our Accommodation Support service are completing visits to our vulnerable tenants, where safe to do so, and will also be contacting our tenants by phone.
Flintshire Connects Centres and administrative council buildings
All Flintshire Connects Centres and administrative buildings will remain closed on Friday 10 March 2023.
Garden Waste Collections
All garden waste collections were suspended today (9/3/23) and are also suspended on Friday 10 March and Saturday 11 March.
Crews will be deployed to assist with gritting and snow clearing operations.
There will be no re-collection of garden waste for rounds suspended today, tomorrow and Saturday. Please present your garden waste on your next usual collection day.
Waste and Recycling
The majority of black bin collections scheduled for today (9/3/23) have been completed. If it was unsafe for us to get to you today, please present your black bin for collection on Monday, 13 March.
We have not been able to safely complete all food waste and recycling collections today. Recycling not collected today will be collected next Thursday (16/3/23). Food waste will be collected on Sunday, 12 March.
Due to worsening conditions and the amber warning for snow and ice – all waste collection services (black bin, food and recycling) are suspended for tomorrow (10/3/23).
Black bins scheduled for collection on Friday (10/3/23) will be collected on Saturday (11/3/23), subject to the prevailing weather conditions overnight into Saturday.
Garden waste (brown bin) scheduled for collection on Saturday (11/3/23) will be suspended. Please present your garden waste on your next usual collection day.
Food waste scheduled for collection on Friday (10/3/23) will be collected on Sunday (12/3/23).
Household Recycling Centres
The Household Recycling Centre at Mold (Nercwys) has been closed today (9/3/23).
Household Recycling Centres at Oakenholt (Rockliffe), Greenfield, Sandycroft and Buckley will remain open today (9/3/23) until 5pm.
A risk assessment of all household recycling centres will be undertaken tomorrow morning (10/3/23) to determine whether they are safe to open. More information will be made available tomorrow.
Highways and footways
All crews have been out today gritting and snow clearing on priority routes and will continue to focus on these areas throughout the current weather event.
All planned highway and grounds works have been suspended today (9/3/23) and will be suspended again tomorrow (10/3/23). Crews have been deployed to assist with gritting operations.
Street cleansing operations have been suspended today (9/3/23) and will be suspended tomorrow (10/3/23). Crews have been redeployed to snow clearing in town centres and other priority areas.
