Plans to build a pharmacy inside a Flintshire supermarket are still going ahead Carl Sargeant AM has confirmed today.

Alyn and Deeside Assembly Member wrote to Morrisons headquarters last month, after residents in Saltney raised concerns about a lack of opening date for a new pharmacy inside its Saltney store.

The application by the supermarket chain was given the green light in January, after thousands of residents signed a petition in support of the bid.

Carl received a reply this week from Ewan Macdonald-Russell, corporate affairs advisor for Wales and Scotland, who confirmed the project is still going ahead.

Carl said:

“I am sure this news will come as a relief to residents, many of whom were concerned the plan had been abandoned.

“Morrisons have told me they are taking steps to move the plan forward and although they do not have a target date for opening yet, they will keep residents informed.

“They have also thanked residents for the support in helping them gain permission to open the new facility, which I am sure will be well-used when it opens.”
