A woman has died after being hit by a train at Shotton lower level station.

The incident happened just before 11am close to the Shotton lower level platform, lines on the North Wales Coast Line between Shotton and Chester were blocked as emergency services dealt with the incident.

British Transport Police said officers were called to Shotton station following a report of a person hit by a train.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, officers are now working to identify the woman and inform her family, though she has been named locally by multiple sources.

Police say the incident is not currently being treated as suspicious.
