Update: A man has died after being struck by a train near Prestatyn.

A man has died as a result of being struck by a train this morning near Prestatyn.

British Transport Police confirmed the sad news earlier today, a spokesman said:

“BTP officers attended the line close to Tyn y Morfa crossing, Prestatyn, after a report that a man had been struck by a train.

“Officers from BTP and North Wales Police attended the incident, which was reported to police at 8am and is currently being treated as non-suspicious.

“Paramedics from the Wales Ambulance Service also attended but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“A file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Reports via Network Rail say a person has been hit by a train between Prestatyn and Flint

The incident appears to have happened just after 8am causing delays of up to 60 minutes to trains between Shotton and Llandudno Junction.

 

A police helicopter has been seen in the area and emergency service deal with the incident.

Lines are currently blocked and there are severe delays train services between Shotton and Llandudno Junction.

Disruption is expected to continue until 11:00.

Buses have been requested but there is no estimate for these as yet.
