Queensferry: Ty Calon cabin project suffers yet another vandalism setback

A community group in Queensferry says it has been left heartbroken after its unfinished cabin project was vandalised on Sunday night.
Ty Calon said wood had been ripped off the structure and a large French door window was smashed through.
The cabin, located at the Queensferry Campus, was already left half-built after a contractor disappeared with funding. It was intended to become a new community space.

In a statement on social media, Ty Calon said: “We’re heartbroken to share that our cabin project has been hit by yet another setback. Last night, things got even worse, the structure has been vandalised. Wood has been ripped off and the large French door window has been completely smashed through.”
The group added: “This cabin was meant to be something positive for our community and instead it’s become a source of stress, heartbreak and now criminal damage.”
Ty Calon has appealed for information, saying: “If anyone was in the area around Ty Calon last night and saw or heard anything, please let us know it could make a real difference. We’d also ask parents to check in with their teenage children to see where they were at last night.”
The incident comes just ten days after Ty Calon reported a break-in at its main community hub in the early hours of Friday 13 September. Three windows were damaged during that incident.
The Queensferry site has been repeatedly targeted over the past year. In April, vandals damaged the centre’s pond, breaking solar filters, water fountains, fish shelters and fencing. In August 2024, thousands of pounds worth of damage was also caused in another attack.
Ty Calon is continuing to fundraise to repair the cabin and bring the project to completion.
