Police officers assaulted during arrest in Flint

Police officers in North Flintshire were assaulted and exposed to potentially infectious blood while detaining a violent male during one of several serious incidents over the last 24 hours.
The arrest took place in Flint, where some of the officers involved required medical treatment. The suspect was reportedly aggressive, and the incident resulted in injuries to officers, one of whom is now being supervised in hospital while in custody.
A police spokesperson said: “Officers have been assaulted and injured detaining one of the males who’s been arrested. They were also exposed to potentially infectious blood of the suspect – something we deal with often. Their welfare will be looked after in the coming days.”
The latest update from North Flintshire Police details a busy period for local teams, with 56 calls for service in 24 hours, including seven ‘P0’ emergencies – requiring blue light responses. Incidents included one domestic crime, six reports of concern for safety, and six cases of anti-social behaviour.
Five arrests were made in total. Among them were two drug-driving suspects, one individual arrested on suspicion of harassment, and one for shop theft – who is also due to be recalled to prison. Two of those arrested remained in custody on Tuesday morning.
While officers were engaged with these incidents, further disruption occurred in Holywell. A patrol car was damaged, and anti-police graffiti was sprayed on the Flying Start Centre building, which has no connection to North Wales Police.
“It’s tough out there,” the police team wrote. “Our response, neighbourhoods, traffic, armed units and dog units are out there every day, putting themselves in harm’s way to keep us safe.”
Sgt Dave Smith, posting about the Flint assault, said: “We may wear a uniform, but we are also members of the communities we serve… These attacks affect not just us, but our families, friends, and loved ones.”
Police are appealing for any information that may help identify those responsible for the damage and graffiti in Holywell.
“We’re all in this together, working to keep our communities safe,” Sgt Smith added. “Your support means everything to us.”
