Police close High Street in Connah’s Quay due to an ongoing incident

Police closed High Street and Wepre Lane in Connah’s Quay this morning after reports that a man had smashed a window at Motorworld.

One witness reported on twitter: “Man has just smashed motor world’s window with a metal bar and is now hanging out of his window with an axe”Reports.

Councillor Bernie Attridge has said:

“Street scene are attending the High Street in CQuay at the request of NWP to close the road! Incident on going”

Around five police cars and number response to reports of a man smashing a window at Motorworld at around 9.50am.

Witnesses say the man was armed with an axe while others say he had a knife.

Unconfirmed reports across social media said armed officers were on the scene as police warned the public to stay away from the area

Police detained a man ending the incident peacefully at 11:15am – a 60-year-old man has been arrested for alleged public order and damage offences.

Chief inspector Nick Evans has thanked the public for “patience and  cooperation”
